Tate Liverpool is the most popular gallery of modern and contemporary art outside London, as well as being the home of the National Collection of Modern Art in the north.
Located in one of Albert Dock’s bright, former warehouses, Tate Liverpool has four floors of galleries open to the public – take note of the spectacular views across the Mersey on the top floor, they’re a real hidden gem!
Work on display is provided from both the Tate collection and special exhibitions, which bring together painting, photography, sculpture and installations from national and international assemblages.
Tate Liverpool’s visitor numbers have exploded over the past few years, with rave reviews for past exhibitions: Transmitting Andy Warhol, the Turner Prize exhibition, Klimt, Picasso and Chagall retrospectives. At Tate, you can also get involved in a range of tours, talks, workshops and activities that tie in with both current exhibitions and wider artistic themes.
If you want to take home a creative souvenir, Tate Liverpool’s shop offers an extensive range of books and art-inspired gift ideas, and if you’re peckish look no further than the tasty Tate Café, which serves a range of dishes from breakfast, lunch and plenty of drinks choices, with gluten free and veggie/vegan options available. Don’t forget – kids under 12 eat free when an accompanying adults buys a main meal from our seasonal menu.
We hope you enjoy your visit.
